ABOUT HAMADRYAD

Well, where to begin?
First of all my name is Carl, but some of you might know me as “Wolf”.
As long as… well.. as long as I can remember I always loved to spend time in nature. I always loved hiking in the mountains.. as a kid with my parents and brother and now with friends or alone…
During Highschool I picked up on some survival books and that really catched my interest. I asked myself questions like “How can I purfiy water?” or ” How can I find food and medicins in nature?” and so on…
I’m far from being an expert, but I’m gradually putting all pieces together. Last year I started a course on herbs and their medical uses in Antwerp… Sadly enough I moved out to Zottegem and I just couldn’t put myself to traveling from Zottegem to Antwerp and back again every week. So I might have to pick up that course later on my life.
During my staying in Zottegem, on a farmhouse, I learned how to grow vegetables and I started my own little garden.
I also began to recognize ‘nature’ in other things… in people like Leo Kottke for instance… the way he plays guitar has to be inspired by nature..
The tricky part is: How to get close to nature without loosing a grip on society?… finding the right balance…
During my trip to India I saw people living according to nature’s laws and I swore to myself not to live like this… Here, in the West, We might be slaves of our society, but what’s the pleasure of being nature’s slaves, right? So having some good things of both sided must be an excellent way of living!
That’s where I started to look for sollutions…
This site is just for sharing my little adventure with people who share the same interest in Nature, natural building methods and a natural lifestyle.
My goal is to build a model-house that integrates all kinds of low-impact technologies and serves as an example to other people. I would also like to convince local authorities to allow alternative building methods and even promote low-impact living as this kind of living could help saving our environment!
